Zakia Driouch, Secretary of State for Maritime Fisheries in Morocco, visited the Tunamax tuna plant in Berrechid (Morocco) on May 13th. The plant is equipped with Gaictech technology. This official visit emphasized an installation that has already become an industrial benchmark within the Moroccan processing sector. The event was part of monitoring the performance of units dedicated to processing and adding value to seafood products, contributing to the sector’s national competitiveness.

For Gaictech, Tunamax represents one of the most significant international projects developed by our company in recent years: a comprehensive solution for a tuna processing plant designed to operate with high standards of automation, traceability, and efficiency. The tuna line supplied by Gaictech covers the entire industrial process, from the reception of the fish to the finished and palletized can, integrating stages such as thawing, preparation, cooking, cleaning, filling, sealing, sterilization, cooling, labeling, and packaging.

The project’s scale confirms its strategic importance. This plant has a production capacity of approximately 100 million cans per year operating on a two-shift basis, occupies an industrial area of 20,000 square meters, and has generated 450 jobs per shift. The Secretary of State has highlighted not only its size but also its innovative design and the added value it contributes to the region’s economy.

Beyond its production capacity, the plant stands out for its focus on sustainability and industrial modernization. The facility incorporates advanced wastewater treatment systems, high-performance industrial boilers, and a 400 kWp solar installation, in addition to machinery designed for the valorization of by-products within a circular economy framework.

In the case of Tunamax, the company’s management emphasized aspects such as layout design, line flexibility, real-time monitoring, operational efficiency, and technical support during installation and startup. Tunamax also considers this plant a strategic cornerstone for serving both the domestic and international markets.

These types of projects showcase both our technological capability and our capacity to undertake comprehensive projects. Tunamax exemplifies how applied engineering, industrial specialization, and close customer collaboration contribute significantly to the development of the canning sector in international markets.
